Matt Cook hired to manage Mt. Pisgah Ski Center

SARANAC LAKE — In an effort to enhance and expand ski operations at Mount Pisgah Veterans Memorial Center, the village of Saranac Lake has hired Matt Cook to be its manager. A former U.S. nordic combined ski team member based in Park City, Utah and Steamboat Springs, Colo., Cook has been the nordic director and coach for the New York Ski Educational Foundation Nordic program for the past six years. Because he has taken the ski manager position, this winter will be his last at NYSEF, Cook said. He also spent four years working with the Adirondack Mountain Club and was crew boss for the professional trail crew. The Saranac Lake native said he was attracted to the job in part by the challenge but also by the potential that Pisgah affords. “It’s exciting to work in my hometown again and give back to the community that got me onto the ski team and made skiing such a large part of my life,” Cook said. “I feel like it’s an honor to have the position.” In recent years, management of
