WILMINGTON — Whether you’re the type that likes to pound the pavement, exerting every muscle of your body, or the type that enjoys the thrill of pumping your strength with every rotation of your tires, the Whiteface Mountain Uphill Races are for you.

The first race is an uphill foot race on June 7 while the uphill biking race is June 20.

Whiteface Mountain is the 5th highest, most northerly and most easily accessible of the High Peaks, with a summit elevation of 4,867 feet.

The races are eight miles on a 8 percent grade course. The climb is 3,500 feet up scenic Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway.

Starting line is at the junction of Routes 86 and 431 in Wilmington.
